Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jun 01, 2020 1:25 pm Hi guys. New to forum and currently owner building a granny flat. I've received my prefab wall frames (Universal Trusses) but have seen a few issues with the diagonal bracing that I would appreciate some advice with. Firstly, the diagonal strap bracing crosses over both the top and bottom plates. I'm not too concerned about the top plate but I would have thought that to get the bottom plates sitting flat on the floor (yellow tongue flooring) I'd need the straps clear of the bottom plate (i.e. underneath) or at the least recessed underneath? Is it okay if I just cut these away from the bottom of the bottom plate and leave attached to the side of the bottom plate? Secondly, how tight do the straps need to be? I've got at least 3 wall frames with pretty loose strapping. I.e. I can easily make a fist between the strap and the wall frame. This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8040 Thanks Pulse, thats really helpful and very much appreciated.
