I just bought a bostich framing nail gun, it is a display model and was missing the additional quick change metal connector nailing tip.
I have a couple of rooms to frame and need to replace the skillion roof with gable.
I will be using both regular timber and LVLs.
Do I need this tip.
Is it feasible or a tolerable task to nail the metal connectors by hand into LVLs.
Does the code allow for hand nailing metal connectors.

To be honest, hand nailing metal connectors is the best option, although it takes ages so is very rarely done.
The problem with nail gun driven nails is they often end up over driven and deform the connector. Technically that has then made that connector non compliant.
Hand nailing doesn't do this. As long as you put in the required quantity of nails then you are good to go.
Just be prepared for a bout of tennis elbow or tendonitis as the repetitive action of hammering in hundreds of nails in a row can really give the elbow grief. I know it does mine.😁
