Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Feb 27, 2020 8:51 am I wonder if anyone has any experiences that they'd be willing to share about importing materials from overseas? There is a topic already on importing windows and doors from China but I know a lot of OBs save a lot of money on other imports for cabinetry, bench tops etc. I'd be interested to know where you got your materials from, how much you think you saved and the quality. Thanks Re: Importing materials from overseas 2Feb 27, 2020 12:43 pm I imported my evacuated tube solar hot water systems. Got a few modifications done at the factory to suit my setup. Saved about 70% Re: Importing materials from overseas 3Apr 03, 2020 5:38 pm By buying materials from China, it will save you some money, including the shipments, it's still like less than half price here even lower, but it takes some time to get to you and you need to install them yourself or hire someone to do it. I use to buy some from China, there are many high qulity stuffs you can find, and the others are not recommend:) If you have any Chinese friends you can ask them to buy things you need, just don't aim for the cheapest things, if you want to buy things in 1/10 price, you will pay for it.. micwallpaper.com.au Picture your wall to a view Re: Importing materials from overseas 4Apr 09, 2020 5:13 pm breanna I wonder if anyone has any experiences that they'd be willing to share about importing materials from overseas? Thanks The most important thing about buying from overseas, is that they have people on the ground near you. Things get shipped, broken or damaged, then the company here can help. Maintenance is something not many people think about and if something goes wrong in 6 months, who is here to fix it? Re: Importing materials from overseas 5Aug 03, 2020 12:06 pm The very important rule is to well manage your expectation. Dont expect to buy a very small QTY from overseas with a very low price, if you do, the quality must suck. It's preferred that you understand and better that you are professional in the products that you buy. The sales person you deal with from your supplier need to be technical professional not someone that can just speak fancy. I had couple of quotations from pre-covid times, I am quite sure they are more expensive now plus with current USD rate and shipping costs it makes them really unaffordable. 6 24315 Thanks. There are plenty of builders around my suburb. I'll make sure to do some door-to-door knocking, or note their building details on the temp fence. 4 4747 That's a fantastic result! Happy you got it sorted out. cheers Simeon 6 8640 |
