Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jun 08, 2019 10:16 am Hi, I just want to know if we should use scyon flooring for the upstairs bathrooms or just stick to regular particle board? The showers will be flush with the floor. We will still need to put tile underlay / cement sheet on top regardless of which one we use. Is it worth putting in scyon or not? And why? Thanks. Re: Scyon flooring in bathrooms or particle board? 2Jun 10, 2019 7:05 pm I have a build in progress. Chose scyon for the wet areas for 2 reasons. 1 it is stiffer than particle board making it a better option for tiles, and 2 as risk mitigation against any future leak. I have used steel floor system and also steel framing, replacing flooring would be nigh on impossible. It is not that much extra money for piece of mind Re: Scyon flooring in bathrooms or particle board? 4Jun 12, 2019 8:46 pm Yes, you are right we don’t need underlay with scyon, but we’ll need underlay in order to get the height of the tiles to match the carpet in the hallway. Sorry I misunderstood your point 7 6997 1000000% definitely add insulation. I have in my home and it makes a big difference minimising sound transfer. Insulation is pretty cheap and definitely worth it 2 6207 Engineering timber is certainly a less fuss option, times cheaper to supply and install and better withstands humidity. 1 15923 |
