Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum Re: My experience buying windows in China 61Nov 25, 2019 8:12 pm Olifrated You only get an hour to unload the container , I had mine and a friends house in the container and I’m not running a normal work site as I’m an owner builder ( no forklift ) so had the container unloaded at the port and delivered on a truck with fork lift attached . All in all the whole process worked a treat I’ll have my windows installed tomorrow and then will start the stacker doors over the weekend as I have 5 sets of them at 4.5m wide to do . As I say I’m stoked and I can’t imagine how much these would have cost me locally as I have just under 100 sq metres all toughened safety glass argon filled low e glass . If you are local you are more than welcome to come and see them for yourself . Also can’t remember what profile I chose but can have a look later Thank you. I'm Sydney based so not local. Also what hardware did you end up going with? Re: My experience buying windows in China 64Nov 26, 2019 4:52 am Olifrated Hi piece of cake , these are on a new build though . I fitted 1 per hour on Saturday with my teenage boy helping me . They weigh around 25kg per square metre . The 2 big ones pictured together are 3000 x 1200 and were more of a challenge these were fitted today with my carpenter mate who is doing the build with me and we used a duct lifter to get into place . These are really good quality if you like the semi commercial/ commercial look which I do Hi , nice looking windows , I noticed your framing appears to be completely sheath in ply or osb board rather than just the normal corner bracing can you tell me the reasoning behind this . cheers Max Re: My experience buying windows in China 65Nov 26, 2019 5:18 am Hi max yeah wrapped the whole lot in ply , my choice as I’m doing it myself . I come from the uk and all pre fabricated frames always come with osb on the outside . One it helps with strengthening it but also it will help keeping the draughts in / out So should hopefully help with heating / cooling bills . I’ve never been as cold in winter as I have over here in project built houses which is why I’m doing this myself and going the extra yards Re: My experience buying windows in China 66Nov 26, 2019 5:32 am Yes I sympathize with you about how cold it can be here and in the past not enough care was taken to build houses in OZ that are comfortable in both summer and winter . I see in the USA they also completely sheathe and also pay a lot of attention to insulation as you have , and I will look at it myself . How are you enjoying your ob experience ? cheers Max Re: My experience buying windows in China 67Nov 26, 2019 5:39 am Hi max love it but I’ve been in the trade since leaving school 30 years ago most of those years working on new build houses so I know my way around . Been wanting to build my own for the last 20 years so enjoying this a bit too much . Re: My experience buying windows in China 68Nov 26, 2019 5:50 am enjoy , I won't say good luck ! with 30 years experience behind you , you don't need luck . cheers Re: My experience buying windows in China 70Dec 17, 2019 10:09 am Does anyone know if the Superhouse windows are powder coated or anodized? I believe anodized can get marked with mortar etc? I am putting in for a quote so fingers crossed they are reasonable. BTW I have seen these windows in person, thanks @Olifrated for showing me your build, they look great and good quality. It was recommended to me to get the click sill/reveal where they slot in as this will make life easier. Re: My experience buying windows in China 72Feb 04, 2020 12:29 am Hi All, Just a quick update. My Superhouse windows arrived intact and are currently sitting unloaded at my freight forwarders warehouse in Seven Hills for safe storage. Once we are ready, they will deliver the windows and hand them over to the window installer, who will be on site on the day. ETA is probably early March at this stage. Regards Re: My experience buying windows in China 73Feb 04, 2020 7:14 am Thanks vakman, I have obtained a quote from them and will be ordering in the next month or 2. They say it is a 2 month lead time from ordering to delivery. Please let us know when they go in and your opinion of them. Also, do you have the contact details for the other items you ordered i.e. laundry cabinetry, stone tops, floating vanities, recessed medicine cabinets, alfresco skylights, door handles etc. Thanks.
