We've had our own design drawn up and would expect our building permit any day now. This is going to be a very low budget build and we (my husband and I) are going to be doing much of the work ourselves. We're not under any particular time pressure, and we're determined that this will be an enjoyable process rather than a stressful one I'm in the process of obtaining quotes for our foundations - this is proceeding well and seems to be under control. I've just begun looking at getting our temporary builder's power supply connected, and it seems to make sense to me to get a quote for this and the rest of the electrical wiring at the same time - I have the sense that I might get a better price on the temp power connection if the electrician in question is promised the whole project - thoughts? I'd also value any input on the issue of buying a temp pole (and selling it later) vs hiring one, as this is likely to be a reasonably slow build....? If your build is going to be slow I would get a separate price for the temporary supply. Trades are not interested in giving a competitive lump sum price for a build that may take years to complete.
