Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Nov 27, 2017 2:40 pm Hi, We are looking to see if anyone has had trouble with their large format tiles on a steel floor. We are at lock up and have yellow tongue down already, we were looking at putting tile underlay on top than 600x600 tiles. A couple of tilers have said that it not an issue, one has been on site, however other tilers that I have spoken to have said that tile and grout cracking might be an issue. Obviously we need to tile the bathrooms and laundry but we have a 90sq area that would look awesome with larger tiles. Anyone had a similar situation? Thanks! Steel's thermal expansion coefficient is around 2.5 higher than wood/pine, so even if steel decides to expand, engineered wood (your yellow tongue) should be holding it up in some way? Seconded; we just used these last weekend to build a small deck. They worked perfectly as we have bluestone in the area where we wanted to build so digging down was not… 8 9501 Hi Mrboh Just wondering if you have any BAL or flame zone issues on your block, as getting compliance with BAL requirements whilst doing bearers and joists is tough.
