We should hook it all up and see how we did. The back deck is just about done. We ran out of screws before we could get the last few boards on. Your house looks amazing and I am interested in how long it has taken you from the beginning to now, so when did you start building. Also have you built the home by yourself?? Sorry one more thing you have moved in now and have a few more things to do, yes?? Would you recommend finishing the job completely before moving in because I would love to do that but hubby wants to finish completely....not sure how long that will take though! Cheers Michelle Re: Our Kitome Glenbrook - We've Moved In! 123Feb 02, 2010 1:11 pm Hi Michelle, Thanks for the rap, we're loving the place. As for how long, we started turning dirt for the house in Feb 2008, and moved in on June 26 2009. So 16 months from start to move-in. When I say I built it I couldn't have done it without my father-in-law and my fathers help. These old blokes know a thing or 2 about this. We moved in with quite a bit still to do. And once we'd moved in things did slow down. But then we had to chase an 8 month old and 2 year old and work around their sleeping once we were in too. We're happy we moved in before it was done, we just plug away at the little jobs as we go. And it sure beats living with the in-laws Cheers, Pete viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8824 Re: Our Kitome Glenbrook - We've Moved In! 124May 05, 2010 3:11 pm Little bits and pieces have been getting done around the place. Dunno if the list is getting any shorter though Finally managed to get a couple of coats of stain on the deck. Only 2 years too late. Went for a Merbau one to hopefully get some colour back into the boards. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ My dad and I had a weekend at the verandah lining. So we got a guy in to move some dirt around and dig some holes. Before Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All flat Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Beams and piers dug. It was at this stage I realised I'd made the beams 100mm too deep, so had to order more concrete. And for some reason the front ended up looking very thick, even more concrete! Ready to fill up. And with some help from my wifes uncle and my wife we got the timber facias up. I also stuck some sheet brace on the front wall to try and firm it up a bit too. But we've got nearly all the cladding done. The wiring is roughed in. And the roller doors, motors and pa door are ready to fit too. Hopefully another couple of weekends at it will see it done, or usable at least. If so roughly how much was it, Ive just bought a block of land and am looking at sticking a garage up just so I have somewhere safe to lock my tools up whilst I build the house. Also how were kitome to deal with? I have been looking at their Hartly home for some time Re: Our Kitome Glenbrook - Garage Roof On 134Oct 05, 2010 8:13 pm Awww so jealous!!! It's beautiful! We are going to go through Kitome too. We like the Harrington MkIII. First hurdle for us though is to get owner builder finance.....sigh.... Seriously, well done on your build. It is wonderful! Wooo! I have a thread! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=39239 Re: Our Kitome Glenbrook - Garage Roof On 135Oct 11, 2010 2:44 pm Gday Tubbym, sorry for the late reply, I've sent you a pm just in case you don't check back in here again. And thanks Bendnsnap. I've heard its getting harder and harder to get owner builder finance. Good luck with it, hope you get a result soon. We got ours with Newcastle Permanent building society, and that was about our only choice in the end.
