Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jan 12, 2017 3:27 pm Hi Everyone, I have been following this forum for a while, lurking in the background! Slowly I have been moving forwarded to get council approval to start my very own OB. I have a blog that I have started but intend on putting information on here following it's progress! Excavation starts this Saturday, very excited. The block is 3600m2 and has quite a slope across one end to the next, which is why we are building a 2 storey home with the bottom level being a garage dug into the slope. When I get a chance, I'll post up some plans! In the meantime, have a look at our page https://thegroundup2017.wordpress.com Thanks! Andrew. Re: OB in South West NSW 2Jan 12, 2017 6:57 pm Nice story (the approval part). Keep us updated. It seems a bit strange asking for all the bad bits in detail but I think that's where OB's will learn the ropes. We don't have the years of building experience usually. The approvals section was kept very short in contrast to what we actually had to deal with. Worst experience I have had! Anyway, that's the past. We have completed the silt fencing and now to move onto excavation tomorrow Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: OB in South West NSW 7Jan 16, 2017 8:17 pm Berek That's an epic cut! Why so deep? It is quite daunting! The block we are building on has quite a slope on it, cutting into the block like this allows room for our under house garage and storage areas. Might as well make use of the area! Only get one chance to cut it Re: OB in South West NSW 9Jan 17, 2017 8:55 am Hi Andrew, do you have a plan you could post? So it begins. ? This weather has been playing havoc on our block, raining almost everyday for the past 2 weeks. Will start posting once we actually achieve something! ha! Re: OB in South West NSW 15Mar 23, 2017 6:02 pm I was wondering when you would next post, looking forward to it. All the builds around here seem to have ground to a halt with this horrible weather in Sydney. 😏 Re: OB in South West NSW 17Apr 15, 2017 9:01 am FINALLY have had some works being carried out. The internal drainage was completed and soon after we have had the concreting done. There is some serious steel in our slab for the retainer, but the engineer is happy - which makes me sleep well at night!
