Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Aug 29, 2016 6:03 pm Hi guys Long time lurker, first time poster. We are doing an OB knockdown rebuild. After a long and arduous search, the site where we will be building was purchased in April, this is the only property we viewed in the area (agent rung up, ‘desperate seller, yada yada, usual spiel’, but we feel we got a fair deal so pulled the trigger – the agent from First National was very honest and genuinely very helpful, he is highly recommended). The location is very nice and close to lots of amenities, ideally we would like to have moved a bit closer to the City, but we could not find anything suitable at the time. So the house: Pseudo French Provincial Style Facade – Modern Inside. We liked the look of the what I would consider to be French Provincial styled houses being built in the area, so we ideally would like a similar façade. We decided to keep it as plain as possible as some of the houses which have been built in the area have been way overdone and look ridiculous. Internally we won’t be doing anything too fancy, we will be going for a modern open feel. Tiled and carpeted flooring, plaster walls and roof. Landscaping: Will be basic low maintenance, maybe a pool. This goal of this thread / blog is to document the steps undertaken to demolish the old dwelling and build the new dwelling. I will ensure that the thread is regularly updated and picture heavy . 12 June 2016 – House Settled The house was pretty trashed, from what we can deduce it was built around 1984 so it is not all that old of a house. Obligatory pictures of the original dwelling.
