Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Feb 06, 2016 8:43 pm Hello happy builders.
I am getting close to pouring a slab for my new double story house. The walls and trusses are to be prefabricated by a factory and delivered to the site afterwards. My question is should I take the time and wait for the slab to be poured measure it and than place a safe order (lead time is 4 weeks)? Or should I take the risk pre order the walls and hope it will fit the slab with no need for adjustment. I trust my concreter and will double check the measurement of his formwork but is it enough? Not sure the time saving worth the risk. Any advice....thanks. Re: New slab measure before ordering prefabricated walls. 5Feb 07, 2016 6:58 pm A lot depends on how soon you want to do your framing, and how you plan to cure your slab. While commercial builders start within days, there are benefits in giving the slab 4 weeks to cure. From memory 4 weeks = 95% strength. That would allow you to measure after the pour. Hey There. No problems re jumping in. My original question was "should I have waterproofed" the concrete slab before putting batons down.
