I am having a little trouble working out the difference between these 2 terms. The paperwork associated with the DA I am preparing to submit uses the term "Dual Occupancy (detached)". The proposal consists of a main dwelling for myself and a smaller "secondary" dwelling for my married son both on an 85 ha rural block.
It would appear that Far Trading NSW has placed restrictions on issuing OB permits for "dual occupancies" & "secondary dwellings" unless "special circumstances" exist. When I asked the lady from Fair Trading what are those special circumstances, she replied "I don't know, I have never had to deal with them!"
I will have to speak to Fair Trading again but I want to get my facts straight before I lay my hand on the table.
I hasten to add that the Planning Dept. of the Local Council is as useless as the proverbial "mammary glands on a bull"! They are always too busy to take your call and do not return calls!
