OB in SA

Our manhole door finished:
We used melamine sheet so it will just wipe clean of prints. Better than using gyprock with ceiling paint - will be terrible with prints. We also put Soundscreen insulation as it is the perfect thickness for the door (from what we have as left-over insulation)

We used form flex on the inside edge of the door and on the timber where the door will sit when it's open. So it's got a softer landing.

That's a very good idea and practical Twy... I should check whether I will have any insulation above man hole...

Yeah Reg, it pays to ask. We had some leftovers so we thought to put some.

P.S. probably overkill but it is what we wanted to do.

Went down to Beaumont in Adelaide today to have a look at tiles. Surprised that we have picked out most of the bathroom and laundry tiles. Was thinking it will be more complicated. We paid and took sample tiles home so we can see how they will look like in our spaces. Quite happy with them.

Floor tile (bathrooms and laundry). Will still look for pebble tile for the shower. Unsure if we would do pebble for both showers as it's a worry about keeping them clean. It's up in the air still but not totally scrapped.

Ensuite:
Our feature wall which is the wall that you see as you open the door (ie where the niche is). This will be what we will have on the niche as well so it will just blend in

The rest of the ensuite wall. Doesn't show it in the photo but this has a grain and also embossed

Tiles for the ensuite together:

Main bathroom:
Shower and bath
This will be our feature wall which is also the wall that you see as you open the door. We will use two different thickness ( the one on the photo is 130 x 800, the other one is 200 x 800). This wood tile is also what we will put just on the face of the niche (probably just the thin one).

We will have a look if there is a colour of this timber look tile that is close to our powder room vanity which is birch. If not, we are still fine with this colour as it is in a different room anyway.

The rest of the wall in the bathroom/shower

Tiles together for the main bathroom/shower:

Display of the timber look tiles in the shop (just vertical, we will have ours horizontal)

Powder room:
Same floor tile as above
No wall tiles except above the vanity and below the mirror. We will have this splashback, hope this will tie in with our vanity in birch.

Wow! Amazing selections, love the wood tile and that last image is awesome, can't wait to see those!

Funnily enough, the textured white tile at the top that you've chosen is the first tile we chose but in black, it's lovely.

Great minds. Haha! Cheers Marshall. You didn't go ahead with the black one? We decided to have plain colours in the ensuite but with texture so they still have something going for them. We will let our bamboo vanity give the pop of colour in the ensuite.

Yeah, they are going to look fab and you're absolutely right to let the vanity be the star of the show

No, we decided that, black and white just wasn't very, 'us' so we changed it to the, browny-metallic tile and kept the plain white one to complement it, I just hope we can keep the grout clean

I think the browny-metallic combo will look awesome Marshall.

Great job on the manhole! Agree about the usual finish. Ours is filthy already with Mr TC's grubby paw prints
He stuck a wad of leftover insulation (he scrounged from the blue bin) on the back of it, covered by space sheet with duct tape

Me too also looking forward to seeing those tiles laid

Haha! That's cute. (Mr TC's paw prints).

We have ordered and paid for our tiles without changing a single thing. A first. Haha. We also got our hotwire undertile heating from Beaumont, one for the ensuite and one for the main bathroom. Our flusher also will start on Saturday. So quite excited!

We went away last Saturday for a roadtrip to Melbourne to see some tennis at the Australian Open & Glenrowan to see where Ned Kelly was captured on the way back. Got back last night to all these! Our flusher has been working flat out and late nights since Saturday and is looking to finish tomorrow.

Cheers Marshall! We are very happy. We are off to Adelaide tomorrow to get some paint.
Our sparky still has to come back to put the holes for the ceiling downlights while he can still see where the trusses are before we can paint but we would like to be ready.

Some more photos.

Verandah - we will finish the outside edge off with a quad as a drip line/point. Our flusher was happy to have it square set as well but he did a builder's house before and was told that it will apparently hold moisture outside which will wreck the gyprock eventually.

Looks too good to paint!
coming along nicely! the rooms are very spacious and open...

Cheers Reg! Cannot wait though for your big reveals now that your tradies are all back and all hands on deck.

We have picked the paint colours below:

From left to right
Dumbledore - Home theatre walls
Iced Violet - Rest of internal walls
Antique white - we will see if we do this for the verandah ceiling, not sure yet or stick with ceiling white. The white paint on its left is ceiling white for the whole house
Colorbond Riversand - render colour

We bought undercoat and ceiling white so Hombre can start painting as soon as the downlight holes are done.
Also bought sample pots of Dumbledore and Iced Violet.

Doing some colour testing today just using brush, not roller. All panels got an undercoat.
