I rang the local Burning and they mentioned that i need an ABN. What is the pro and cons, and tax implication if any, on the new build. With the big bill for the material in the new house, it is worth an investigation. Looking forwards to hear your comments. Henry Re: Owner Building in Perth 29May 21, 2017 2:47 pm You should not be able to get an ABN as you are not in business and therefore won't be eligible for one. If you take your OB license to Bunnings you can get a tradie Power Pass card. With my sparky I go with him to the electrical distributor pick out what I want (I get his rates) but pay it direct. Good luck with your build <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Owner Building in Perth 30May 21, 2017 3:00 pm Hi AKB, thank you for your comment. I noted that some OB do that, provided their tradies are happy to assist. What percentage of discount do the tradies get and how much is for the Power Pass card at Burning, may i ask? Brick is one of the big ticket item, is there any discount to the tradies? Do brick manufacturers (eg PGH) have any similar discount to Power Pass card as at Burning. Cheers Henry Re: Owner Building in Perth 31May 22, 2017 2:06 pm Hi Henry the powerpass is free. You get somewhere between nothing and 10% depending upon the item. Are you in NSW? <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Owner Building in Perth 33May 22, 2017 8:36 pm Ok I'm in WA and this thread is titled OBing in Perth.
