My husband is a carpenter and will be building it, and we also have a concreter in the family. We were wanting any advice or for people to share their experiences in building their own granny flat. The property is only connected to electricity, not gas. Any advice for dealing with council and permits etc? Any advice for having electricity and plumbing connected? We're in Victoria. Second issue you may have is getting a permit. You might need to get a owner builder licence. The building commission may play funny games with your. Some encourage them, some reluctantly agree to them and others actively discourage the building of them.
