I have a situation where it's likely my yellow tongue flooring will be exposed to weather for more than 3 mths. The only advise CHH (manufacturers) were able to provide was to quickly finish off your walls and roof, never cover it with plastic film and never paint it except for any exposed edges.
However my own research shows that it can be painted, so the questions I have are:
1) does it matter if not sanded first ? the floor will eventually be covered with tile underlay and tiled over, so a rough finish is fine - also rough is less slippery.
2) what type of paint would be best, eg. Solvent based ?
NB. the only purpose is to minimise water penetration, not to look beautiful !
One idea I had is to attach the tile underlay (6mm fibre cement sheet) over the yellow tongue up front rather than later, then seal that. Anyhow, all ideas will be welcome !
Cheers,
Heather
