That roof must be a pita to do. using Tapatalk Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 43Dec 23, 2015 7:40 pm Will prob be longer than 4 unfortunately, above is 2.5 days work, but I dont have a long holiday period to get as much done as possible, and work has a major shutdown comming up in feb so no more leave until april. Weekends only eek Roof actually isn't that bad. I've done 90% of that so far solo, with my partner helping out when she can. The very top 2 sheets are awkward, mostly because the lift needs to go a good 450mm higher to get it to the ceiling, and so when your by yourself is very much a OHE nightmare haha but it gets done. The worst part is doing the insulation for the ceiling, it gets stuck, breaks apart while you're trying to feed it under the battens, leaves you itchy as hell. But at least progress slowly roles on Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 46Dec 28, 2015 9:28 pm Beetaloo I can't see any of your photos any more! He may have got a bit wet yesterday, as we copped a big dumping of rain in the area, with a rate of 236mm/h at one stage, but a total of 56mm of rain in about half an hour.... certainly going to stop him from doing his burn off as it'll be sopping wet after that rain. This is correct, google security has blocked my site for suspicious code on the home page, I reviewed it last night and fixed what they flagged as an issue, reset the security rights, and currently have a ticket in with them to review to remove the block. Hopefully it all links should work again within hours Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 48Dec 29, 2015 7:43 am How did you go with that dumping of rain in the area the other day ? or where you lucky and missed it ? Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 49Dec 29, 2015 2:16 pm Neighbors said we copped a lot, area round the shed is very wet, need to get the retaining wall and drainage setup for it. The main house pad seems to have a few water gully's that have tracked into the fill slope but nothing too major. Will have to look into some drainage to direct the water around the fill area after i'm done lining Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 53Jan 02, 2016 1:22 pm Looking less like a shed now. How come you are lining the whole lot? I figured you'd only go as far as half to use as some temporary accommodation during the build. using Tapatalk Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 55Jan 04, 2016 11:27 am Looks like a big project, all the best with it. However he came unstuck when it was time to drill the holes, got down about 100-200mm and hit rock. Can anyone recommend a earthworks company for drilling rock, I have about 14 holes to drill and I'm assuming they will all be into some level of rock Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 59Feb 10, 2016 12:33 pm So we had an unexpected call from the Rural Fireries last night to say they were available to burn off a couple of the piles of trees that we asked them about back in October. Turned into a very long night waiting for the flames to die down enough to go home Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Owner Building Rammed Earth home in Jimboomba 60Feb 10, 2016 5:55 pm I was over your way on Saturday and was going to say hi.... was going to suggest you get one of the stacks chipped up for your gardens, but sounds like it's all finally cleared up.
