Concreter laid slab for me to build frame on. Council signed off. Slab is oversize by 30mm each side of planned frame. Do I build frame slightly larger to get it closer to the edge or do I build to the plan size and accept 30mm spacing before drop to brick ledge? Any advice please? Re: Frame construction on concrete slab for 4x5m BV shed 2Nov 16, 2014 12:28 pm No advice? must be silly question? I am off to hardware to see if a tradie can let me know what they do in this circumstance. I assume that as the gap between brick face and inside of stud wall is normally 240mm to 250mm that I have no choice but to square up the stud frame roughly aligned with the edge of the slab even though its bigger than the approved plan. Re: Frame construction on concrete slab for 4x5m BV shed 4Dec 29, 2014 5:54 pm If anyone interested, the building inspector recommended building out to the edge of the slab. Had downtime since last online here but now "In progress" and enjoying the experience. Re: Frame construction on concrete slab for 4x5m BV shed 5Jan 01, 2015 3:30 am most posters seem to end with an under size slab!! , so you have done alright there. 30 mm is really only 15 mm per side (wall), which is an extra air gap providing insulation and air flow. So two positives so far. 15 mm or 9/16 of an inch (approx) will be virtually undetectable as far as framing is concerned and will able to be compensated for at framing stage. not a problem , go for it Design from top down to ground , build from ground up When I worked on leveling my shed, I found that using adjustable base plates or shims was a pretty effective way to stabilize it.
