Small amount of planting but mainly spending the weekends with the kids. The wife and I did spent this morning working on our succulents. We mixed it up with some natives too. We ended up running out of succulents so we will need to finish later. Well Done. Could you please post an update, including photos? I'd love to know what it's like to live in your beautiful home and what you'd do differently now, and what your favourite three things are. I’ve been meaning to put up some updates. It’s all done apart from some small sections of landscaping and the pantry. Oh and the laundry chute. I’ll be working on the pantry starting this week. I have been a bit lazy with the house for the last year mainly just trying to enjoy it and do little bits and pieces. I’ll be sure to update with lots of pics. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 586May 26, 2018 11:30 pm Buildingourfirstnest Love the landscaping you have been doing! More pics please Thanks!! Will do very soon. BTW there won't be a next time for another 10 years (Boom/Bust cycle) and I probably won't see the aligned of all the planet's..once in a lifetime event ever again (ie low interest rates, Low import material costs, low labour costs, impact of new technology)...NOWS THE TIME TO BUILD IN PERTH Any company names you could suggest? Hi there, I presume this question was aimed at structuralguy however I thought I’d add my experience also. I have imported many different items internationally mostly either from Europe, Turkey or China. Alibaba or similar organizations are great but for the average once off purpose its more of a headache. I haven’t looked Louvres but assuming structural guy is correct and you purchaee for $100m2 you then have to add shipping and customs charges which can in the case of Louvres probably equal the purchase price, then have pay GST and then if you are getting certified, also then need installation which includes both electrical and carpenters. Now what happens if something doesn’t work correctly or is incorrectly sized or is missing etc. I think Alibaba is great when you want to do it order multiple times as your first purchase of an item may not be exactly what you asked for. I also have forgotten that you will be spending hours++++ just communicating with the supplier over simple details which you may expect as standard. I personally would stay away unless you have done this before and know what to expect and the potential traps. I think at the time structural guy was for whatever reason trolling me a little. Take care I still need to update this thread. Apologies to those proposed this to. Re: OB Project - 591Dec 10, 2018 7:43 am This is truely amazing. What is the grey rendering used for the downstairs? I am taking time reading your blog whilst working on my project so have not got to that stage yet. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 592Dec 10, 2018 9:10 am The grey area is polished cement plaster. It’s basically like normal white set but with cement. The plasters work it till it becomes very smooth. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 594Dec 11, 2018 11:00 pm Hello! Randomly hopped on to Tapatalk to kill time and saw your follow up post. Your back yard is fabulous! And being 18 months on! Well done! We moved in and sooooo slowly getting things done, and it’s already over 2 years, Only last month got my front fence panels installed. I only just ordered my dinning room chairs, cos I couldn’t find the right height! Love to see your internal. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 595Dec 12, 2018 10:01 am Thanks!!! Same here just logged on and thought - I should really start to update this. I know exactly what you mean as there are so many items we are yet to finish and most of our rooms are either empty or not furnished correctly. I only started doing the pantry last month and now we are in crazy season so I’ll continue it in the new year. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair That laser level looks lovely!
