If only all builds here could receive this level of attention to detail Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 505May 09, 2017 9:21 pm Driveway finally poured!!! No more sand! Now we have to patiently wait a week before we can park on it. I don't normally make recommendations but I'll make an exception as these guys have really delivered. They are very easy to work with and just good fun to have around. We kept it with the original lime stone walls and used recycled bricks in a herringbone pattern. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Stairs to front courtyard. I'm relieved the Formwork was up to the job. I have a greater appreciation of formworkers. Lots of work involved. Let's hope if all comes out right. This garden bed will house a mature tree and lots of ground cover. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ These steps were a last minute addition. Simple enough No!!!! While dreaming away I thought I wonder if I can make it a 45 degree herringbone. I've tried very hard to get the idea out of my head but i haven't succeeded so I'm going to attempt it. Initially it sounded simple enough but the more I think about it the more complicated it's getting. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I really know I'm going to regret this one....... I won't be doing any of that myself so I'll be finishing off the front retic and then start planting!! Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 512May 18, 2017 8:45 pm You're a genius! Drew this concept this morning. Not certain I'll follow all of it but it's a start. The outdoor kitchen area won't have any fancies such as stove or fridges etc. I won't even run gas. I like to cook on dried timber so I've ordered a woodfired oven. The footings will be poured their week with brickwork starting on Saturday. I've had to make some adjustments to the plan as I had forgotten the location of the sewerage access point. These will the the last footing in our house. I'll miss all that digging....NOT. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Also, I removed the Formwork from the raised concrete garden beds. I just need to polish the tops and put a small bevel on the edges. The vertical faces are going to be left showing the timber imprints. I'll then apply a matt sealer. Re: OB Project - 517May 24, 2017 7:00 pm Cool concrete work. How much is something like the garden bed costing you? Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 518May 24, 2017 7:26 pm SileNceR Cool concrete work. How much is something like the garden bed costing you? The cost of the garden bed is made up of footings, brickwork and minor plastering, Formwork, concrete pour and finally polishing. It's a bit difficult to calculate the true cost but the cost of concrete including labour was about $1000 for all three garden beds. The most expensive part is the Formwork. Mine was out of mainly left over timber and I did most of it but I would expect the Formwork to normally cost 2-3 thousand. I'll also be doing the polishing with a polisher I purchased from eBay for 300. It has served me well. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 520May 25, 2017 10:58 pm Looks so lovely!
