Here are some pictures that I just took tonight - I'm no photographer......
Our vanity is a wall hung unit made of stained rough sawn oak veneer. The mirror cabinet is the same. We went a bit overboard with power points and the are 6 double power points. 4 hidden and the two black zen ones seen. There is also a ducted vacuum outlet under the vanity as I tend to cut my own hair ![]() ![]() ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The tap-ware is astra walker Icon in aged brass. If you notice I had some of the mixer levers powder coated in matt black to go with our black/brass theme. The brass tiles will develop an aged patina in no time so will look much less bling. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our little shower recess tiled like our splash back in brass tiles. They are uncoated and will age also.. I have also installed IP67 LED profiles in warm white. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I really like our shower seat. I used left over concrete from our stair pour to make it. Very easy and basically free. I also placed a LED profile under it. Can I ask you- we have had electrical rough in for LEDs in our shower niches but no one who has anything to do with our build has ever done it before.... Did you adhere the diffuser case to the waterproofing membrane using glue, then tile up to the diffuser at the back of the niche then just silicone where required? C U S T O M. C O R A L. Only advice I have is make sure to wire has slack and can be pulled/pushed in so that the connection is in your wall. This is how it looks. That's how we were gonna do it. Unfortunately the tilers have tiled the top of the niche yesterday even after being told not to... Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 433Nov 09, 2016 9:26 pm Our powder room bench-top was installed today. It's also matt essa stone white concrete. They had initially incorrectly sized it up so this was the second take. All we need now is a mirror. Looking for a round antique or "aged" brass mirror. No luck yet. Now that we have moved in I've become a bit lazy. Just enjoying the house as is. Do you really need mirrors??? ![]() ![]() ![]() Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 435Nov 18, 2016 3:17 pm We have 6 switches in the bathroom ![]() ![]() Main lights. Light and fan above toilet Shower fan LED strip lights Pendant light Bulk head star lights ..... slightly over board. I like lighting. I poured the bench out of concrete. Essentially it's a suspended slab. It's 80mm thick with reo bars. It's supported by the internal brickwork. It's waterproofed in the same manner as all showers. The tiling is also on a slight tilt. It wasn't in our initial drawings. Just made it up. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 437Nov 20, 2016 8:20 am That's alot of switches, but you don't want all lights to be on 1 circuit as it will be too bright in the middle of the night. But 6 is a bit overboard! lol My LED strip lighting switch was a separate circuit that connected to a powerpoint so it could power the a standard mains powered adapter (I used a laptop adapter). However in my new place I want to have the LEDs connected to the main lighting switch. Will speak to the electrician to see what's possible/legal. I found if you have too many switches, you only tend to turn one or two on. I forgot you people in WA do things differently. Great idea for the suspended slab. I have to think of a way to do it with an internal stud wall. I don't want to use a timber lintel for waterproofing reasons yet it would be easiest to install to the timber studwork. Otherwise I will look at structural compressed cement sheeting. Re: OB Project - "New vs Old" - Nedlands, WA 438Nov 23, 2016 6:37 pm Our Bosch closed loop solar hot water system was finalized today. Until now we have been running off gas. The bosch system uses 3 panels to heat up its 400 litre tank. The solar system is boosted with a seperate gas boiler if required. All in all we have 3 boilers if you include the underfloor heating.
