I am one of those owner-builders who is actually doing all the building myself, everything that we can do legally we will do. So this only leaves earthworks, concreting, plumbing, waterproofing and electricity that we have to pay for on top of the price of the kit home. My total actual costs are about $65,000.
I am trying to fill out the Long Service Building Levy forms, and they want total cost of building INCLUDING how much it cost to build IF we weren't building ourselves.
My question is - how do I calculate the amount it would cost for a builder to build my house, when I have no necessity to get quotes from builders? Are there any other owner-builders who have been in this position?
It seems highly redundant for us to be paying a Long Service Building Levy when we aren't hiring any builders!
