Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jul 16, 2014 12:06 pm I am one of those owner-builders who is actually doing all the building myself, everything that we can do legally we will do. So this only leaves earthworks, concreting, plumbing, waterproofing and electricity that we have to pay for on top of the price of the kit home. My total actual costs are about $65,000. I am trying to fill out the Long Service Building Levy forms, and they want total cost of building INCLUDING how much it cost to build IF we weren't building ourselves. My question is - how do I calculate the amount it would cost for a builder to build my house, when I have no necessity to get quotes from builders? Are there any other owner-builders who have been in this position? It seems highly redundant for us to be paying a Long Service Building Levy when we aren't hiring any builders! Re: Long Service Levy calculated by Owner-Builder 4Jul 17, 2014 3:00 pm It seems to stupid to make up a number when it means nothing, so the upside is that I can make up any number I want, right? I was told that a similar build was $90,000 everything altogher including builder, so that minus my $65,000 would be about $25,000 Then I figured out that if I worked 40 hours a week at $20 an hour, for 6 months that would come to almost $20,000 So hopefully I am somewhere in the ball-park Does anyone have a suggestion for a good hydronic in slab heating speacialist who may be able to help me with an existing system and wether or not it may need a seperator… 0 4889 |
