Critical stage inspection- piers and fotings

So will be getting council inspector out to have a look see.
First one, inspection for footings and slab(carport) excavations and steel work , form work too i suppose.

Any do and don'ts.
Should i just let the inspector do their thing, or escort him around pointing out all the details i can?

So have cleaned up the site no rubble or off cuts , tools away , no power cords,
the usual stuff.

You should know the answers to your questions already from your plans. Presumably you went ahead with the footings etc knowing all the requirements. The inspection is nothing more or less than a compliance check of those requirements. No special tricks, but dont volunteer any info. Just let him do his thing and stay quiet.

Agree with qebtel.

What the inspector sees is what you know.
Ty qebtel and saveH2O.

The inspector came and did his thing , querried a few points had an overall good poke around and passed it.
I did let him look at it all in silence and didn't obstruct him, then and only after he questioned anything did i offer any input. I didn't want to offend with the obvious and he was pleased with a ultra clean work site.
Congrats on a job well done! Now for the next step... lol
TY for all replies,
Was expecting an email to confirm my compliance from council, as the inspector gave a verbal ok, and indicated he didn't have the file or any paperwork with him. As he was on his way into the office( he arrived at 8.15am in the morning). So i took that as gentlemans agreement, shook his hand got his full name and phone number.
I have booked the concrete and pump truck, lined up extra hands for the day, and now i'm a little hesitant to continue with the pour without any docs in place to show all is up to spec.

Any recomendations
You will be OK to go ahead, you have had your inspection and it passed. Just keep a diary and take photos for records.
I would send a polite email to the council inspector thanking him for coming out (quote the date) to inspect the footings and in order to keep him informed of your progress, I would also tell him when you expect to be pouring concrete.

Congrats on passing.
Just record his name and time and date in your diary. Record their car rego number if you're really paranoid , and take photo of him inspecting.
Its was extremely poor of him not to have his inspection forms with him, which he would normally give to you on the spot. He should mail you this form. Make sure you get it.

When you do your frame and final inspection, same methodology applies.
Thanks guys
will do all the above, but still got a heckle standing up on the back of my neck
All good the council letter showed up on the next tuesday 1/5/14.
