House has been rotated slightly on block to suit the slope and therefore there is now two levels. We don't like the ensuite under the eaves and have decided that the toilet isn't in the laundry isn't a necessity so there should be enough room for the ensuite if we remove the toilet. Otherwise we are pretty happy with the plans. Settlement for the block went smoothly last Friday. We are now trying to stay away from the block and focus on fixing our current home and getting it ready to sell. Re: Sloping block build in rural Victoria - updated plan 23Aug 22, 2014 8:47 pm Looks great! Is there a reason you prefer not to have the en suite under the eaves? A definite for us is having a toilet in the laundry so we aren't walking dirt/mud through the house just to pop in to use the bathroom. Really depends on your lifestyle though. We are planning on having a toilet in the shed/mancave so the toilet in the laundry would make 4. I think it's a good idea but I don't want to be cleaning 4 toilets. Thanks for your comment. On a acre block and even smaller, if the fella's want to go for a 'wee walk', they can go outside particulary of a night time. If they want to go for more than that, then why didn't those guests go at home before they came over ? Since it is going to be a shed chances are that you won't be keeping it as clean as often as you would with your ones inside, and quite likely to be upset if guests arrive without warning and see your 'dirty' toilet. Best bet is forget about it, as it'll only cost your more and waste shed space. Owner Building at Jimboomba Woods in Logan City Qld. The ensuite has been changed and some windows but otherwise it is pretty much the same. Soil test has been organised for next week. Our current home has been painted, decluttered, cleaned up inside and out and is now on the market. Cross your fingers for us that it doesn't take too long to sell. Re: Sloping block build in rural Victoria - Question 29Oct 03, 2014 5:09 pm Thanks bigblock and tlblhayward. Our soil test has been completed and I am now in the process of completing a Septic tank permit application. We are waiting for working drawings to be completed and then we will be applying for a building permit and an owner builder permit. I haven't spoken to our Building Surveyor of choice yet but have been googling Building permit applications and note that they require an estimate of total cost of building work and an attachment including the details of the estimation. I'm wondering how much detail I need to include. Do I need to include a quote from the trades we are using? I want to be as ready as I can be to apply for the permit when the drawings are completed. Thanks in advance Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me. He is in my opinion the best surveyor I have ever worked with.
