I am now thinking of either using Wakaflex (lead free) flashing, if we are using the water collected from the roof for gardening, as the lead may leach into the water used for gardening ? It is generally recognised that vegetables, particularly the fruiting ones, do not accumulate lead from high lead soils but leafy vegetables can have higher concentrations. This may be because of directly watering onto the crop...I'll have to do some Googling and try to find some credible studies when I have the time. The foam is just normal foam that is installed as brickies lay the bricks. I forgot to mention you push in a round backing rod before caulking the expansion joint.
