Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Mar 19, 2014 11:33 am Hi I need your help again to clarify one dimension on my slab detail which will probably depend on the brick size (we are building with double course brick) that will be placed on the footing. Will you please let me know what should be the additional slab depth that I have marked red on the drawing attached below? Your help on this is very much appreciated as we decided to dig our own footing so its critical we get this right. http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b542/MinarIslam012/slabdetail_zpsd00f12a1.jpg Re: slab detail - clarification needed 2Mar 19, 2014 12:07 pm After looking at the bricks size: 290mm x 90mm x 162mm - double course looks like if we go 172 which is min on the darwing then we have 162 brick + 10 maybe for mortar? But I don’t know why max is 514… 162 x 3 = 486 + 3 x 20 is 516 not 514…. So doesn't add up…. BTW our bricky just told us they probably start with single brick and we have 76 utility brick included in our brick quotation so looks like my calculation above will not work... ...so 2 course longreach which is 2 x 76 + 2 x 10 (mortar?) = 172 Do you think if we go min which is 172 + 300 for our footing will that be ok?
