Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Feb 03, 2014 7:28 pm So as the topic says I've purchased a property with a rain water tank but it's not connected to the property. I discovered today that Victoria has a requirement for a home to meet the 5 star energy standard if built after 2010. What do I do in this case - is it the original vendors responsibility to get this work done or mine? Construction finished last year August and we purchased it in November. Any help appreciated, thanks! Re: Bought house with a rain water tank that isn't connected 2Feb 03, 2014 9:08 pm You bought it from the builder? The builder should of connected the tank to the house but didn't? I'd say it's the builder's responsibility but unfortunately it is now your responsibility to chase him up about it. Its a shame you didn't employ a building inspector to go over it before buying but I expect you thought it must of passed of the requirements in order to get the certificate of occupancy? I hope someone can suggest a good way to get this resolved because trying to get anything out of builders after you've paid the money can be incredibly frustrating.
