Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jan 26, 2014 2:38 pm Hi All My wife and I are 10 weeks into our owner builder journey. The advice we've received from this forum has been invaluable and I just wanted to share our blog - we've started to put details and photos of our experience. Happy to share any further details for anyone who is doing something similar. http://timandkatiesrenovationdiary.blogspot.com.au/ Thanks again for the advice thus far. Cheers Tim Re: Thanks for the advice & our Owner Builder Story 2Jan 26, 2014 3:45 pm Sounds interesting so far. Its not just bull-dozer men. A few "workers" I've dealt with get very upset if you question their work - especially what they charge and what they do. Even when they don't do the work you asked them to do - they have an excuse and still want to be paid. I had one guy threaten me after he specifically asked for feedback. I pointed out he hadn't done what we'd asked and hadn't even finished what he started. He became abusive and threatening and I told him to p*ss off. Also told him my son - a police officer at a good rank would be only to happy to continue the discussion - never heard from him again. They are just bullies who try to extort money. If anything did/does happen report it to the police - you have the guys name and phone number. Re: Thanks for the advice & our Owner Builder Story 3Jan 28, 2014 11:52 am Doesnt surprise me at all. Earthmovers are the worst I have encountered. I dont trust any of them. Last one sent me the bill four weeks after the job. I thought that was strange - then I noticed he tacked on an extra hour of work. His game was that he thought I wouldnt have a record of the hours he worked and after 4 weeks I would forget - but I did take notes at the time . I had his guts for garters! We bought land in Tallawong Schofields NSW size 30m X 12.5m and planning to get double story house build around 350 sqm. We are thinking about having premium inclusions… 0 4042 Hi VK, I am now retired however I have stood beside over 300 owner builders in the past 18 years that have successfully built their own homes.
