They might do a couple of days before they had to do some work elsewhere or because of this or because of that. The guy who was doing most of the work, essentially a subcontractor for the house moving company, said he was behind schedule because of a truck that kept breaking down and injury. They began putting the roof trusses back up. I was a bit unimpressed turning up on this wet morning as they had left the roof uncovered the night before despite me saying heavy rain was forecast for that night and the following day. The master bedroom was looking particularly worse for wear. This was obviously water damage post the house being moved: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Moving a house from the City to the Country (Image heavy 50Feb 02, 2014 1:05 pm Thats is pretty slack of them about the tarp, but not surprising as it is rare to find a truly professional house mover. With no roof on, they should be covering it up every night when they leave anyway irrespective of what the weather looks like. These are but one of the many trials and tribulations of dealing with house movers. I will warn you now - do not hand over the final payment until you have inspected the house completely - inside the roof space, on the roof, under the floor, every square cm of the interior, because it will be a miracle if there isnt a c0ck up of some sort. Re: Moving a house from the City to the Country (Image heavy 52Feb 02, 2014 8:13 pm I finally got in to have a bit of a look through the house, but it was a quick escorted look. Two of the bedrooms and study seemed alright at first glance. The master bedroom was obviously in need of attention. The kickboard had swollen along the whole length to the point that none of the doors could close properly. I was surprised to see that the rest of the built in robe appeared to have not been affected by water. If any room was to be damaged, this is the one we would have been fine with, as we would be ripping it out. I'm just so amazed at the amount of work that has gone in to get the whole house moved and it looks like things are going well save for the bits of water damage. I'm actually curious where all your stuff is? Do you ahve a storage unit full of packing boxes or are all the moving boxes at the temporary residence? How are you handling all the stuff that was originally in there! -------------------------------- Audrey Greenwood Audrey Greenwood : http://www.boomerangbox.com.au Moving a house from the City to the Country (Image heavy) 60Jun 22, 2014 8:03 am Would love to see an update also Build thread http://tinyurl.com/llgc7yk Firstly, if your house is still under builder's warranty (10 years in Victoria) you should have no need to crawl into roof space but let the builder handle it, unless you… 3 5646 What size are the windows, double or single glazed, can I have a pic of the full windows inside & out?
