Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Nov 02, 2013 1:11 am Hi, A friend of mine has had some drawings produced for a 3 storey property. He's had sufficient amount of drawings for DA submission, which I believe consist of plans, elevations and shade projection. The designer charged him $5k for the work. Does this appear expensive? I also require some plans drawn up, can anyone let me know what they paid for such a service for comparison? Ive also recently spoke with a local surveyor who offered to survey my 450sqm block for $1600. I thought this was a high cost and after reading articles on this forum, $500 seems more reasonable. Therefore before I google perth surveyors, I thought I'd ask on this forum if anyone can recommend a surveyor for the Perth Area? Cheers Re: Perth Designer and Survey Costs 2Nov 02, 2013 8:32 am Can't comment on the surveyor costs.... but the plans sounds reasonable. It's a bit less than that through a large scale builder but you are working off large design houses there and bulk plan alterations. $5k sounds especially all right given it was a three storey house, and to get DA approval it'd be a complete set including plumbing, foundations etc. A builder should be able to use those plans to deliver a house. Re: Perth Designer and Survey Costs 3Nov 02, 2013 10:39 am Your drawing costs will vary according to the complexity of the design , how many levels etc but for a three storey house that sounds reasonable. It also depends on how many revisions to get it to the final draft for the DA. The surveyor I use charges $1500-$1800 for a standard block with all the features noted on his drawing - levels to AHD, boundary measurements and drawn on the plan, trees , rocks, existing structures including the ones adjacent to the site etc. If the owners are proposing to build to within 900mm of a side boundary he suggests getting that boundary pegged ( he places wooden pegs in the ground with the exact location of the boundary ) which attracts another $300 per boundary. Stewie Re: Perth Designer and Survey Costs 4Nov 02, 2013 1:07 pm Hi, costs sound about right, we are doing a reno which includes a grannie flat and the plans were about $6000...we had a survey done on the block about two weeks ago (only boundry pegs) and it was $1200. $500 is very cheap! Re: Perth Designer and Survey Costs 5Nov 02, 2013 1:11 pm I just had another thought...you would also need an energy efficiency report and engineers report before you get the final building permit. That cost us about $500 and $2000. It all adds up...with the Building commision costs (training levy), application costs(to council) and verge deposit I would say its cost us close to $12000 before we even did any building. ask the surveyor for clarification would be the logical approach 1 20116 Give "Holt Surveying" they are based around Eight Mile Plains 3 8703 A survey must’ve completed by a certified surveyor.
