Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Aug 12, 2013 3:58 pm Hi guys, I'm owner building in melbourne south east, monash council area I've recently obtained a quote from a brick layer it's $1.20 per brick for ground floor and $1.40 for top floor window sill is $30/sqm porch and decking brick column $120/each is this price reasonable? i thought $1.20 is a bit high but not sure what the market price is Re: How much do brick layer charge? 2Aug 12, 2013 4:02 pm it's on the high end. $0.90 to $1.20 per brick window sills and colums take longer so they charge more. construction is down and brickies are dropping prices. Second floor work they charge more because of the extra labour to shift the bricks and mortar up a level. Builders hoist and scaffold are usually paid for by the builder. We paid $11,300 in labour for 31 pallets of bricks, which included laying, sills, columns and installing sparking. I think our sills were $20ish? And columns $100ish? Is he supplying material for that prices? My dad is a self employed bricky in the inner west and charges between .75-.90 depending the job, that's excluding materials. Good quality workmanship is important especially around windows and doors. Mine was $.9 for single storey plus $20 per metre for windows If you already have a contract, is the inspection cost stated in there?
