Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jul 14, 2013 2:44 pm Hi all, we are prospective first-time kit home builders and looking around at various options. One that's caught our eye is sarwood.com.au who trade as ShedsnHomes. Seem to operate all around Australia and they offer a 367 sq.m home kit with wrap around verandas for $55,000 (Freemantle Kit 2). This is a shell kit only, so no doors, windows, floors or interior linings but does include steel floor frames, wall frames, zincalume roof and colorbond exterior walls, which is pretty close to what we want. So with a normal kit home we'd expect the finished cost to be 2x the kit cost to lockup. But with this excluding all doors, windows and flooring, how do we calculate the lockup cost? Would it be 2x the kit cost, and the finished cost maybe 4x the kit cost? I think if we could build and finish this under $200,000 it's a very good option. About $550 per sq.m. Anyone used these people? Any thoughts about the concept?
