Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jun 12, 2013 10:27 pm HI, I am about to embark on my first owner builder project for a house extension worth approximately $350K. I just wanted to know if there was a simple (administration / non technical) checklist that somebody had produced detailing everything that is necessary to have ready before the first shovel hits the ground. What i had in mind so far is as follows: 1. DA approval 2. Construction certificate 3. PCA engaged 4. Owner builder course undertaken and certified 5. Public Indemnity Insurance and Construction Insurance 6. Builders and contractors sorted At the moment i feel a little uprepared which is why i am asking. Am i missing any other major items that i need sorted. Any assistance is appreciated. Regards Rodney Re: Owner Builder Checklist 2Jun 13, 2013 10:04 am HI - there is a lot to check lists in house building . I found a book called 'Building your own Home' by George Wilkie and Stuart Arden which although it is an old copy has all of the information for you to build it, there is also a spread sheet for controlling costs and sub contractors. Have fun with the negotiations they are nearly all tricky and they don't like or respect owner builders. If your list is what you have posted, you are many, many points short. I am also doing a gaant chart of the project to try to control it a bit more as I need to be out of my rental in January/February. This was not too helpful but gives most of the points (american site) http://homerenovations.about.com/od/add ... nHouse.htm Re: Owner Builder Checklist 3Jun 13, 2013 5:40 pm Check out my website for checklists and spreadsheets, cost estimates and Gantt charts free to use Www.greenifyconsulting.com.au Re: Owner Builder Checklist 4Aug 06, 2013 3:09 pm It's really great you've thought of insurance!
