Got that within a few days of applying. Hoping shire approval goes smoothly. We will get our drawings certified so it will be a bit quicker. Also, I would have a solid wall with door in between the two houses. This will give you the option to rent out your parent's house in future. Another disadvantage of having 2 dwellings on one title is future resale- finding that buyer that wants two houses. Would there ever be a possibility of separating titles in future?, if so you may want to look at connecting the plumbing and electricals in a manner to allow this Re: Perth Hills, Gidgegannup - Our Owner-build Journey 27Nov 23, 2013 11:13 am Hi Jb1, If you look back on one of my first posts I have posted a plan with north pointing outwards from house 1 kitchen corner. Yes we have put a door in between the 2 houses. We have tried to keep them as independent as possible hence the separate laundries. Electrical and water are all separate too. As for subdividing, if they rezoned our area down the track we could but we would have to have the whole house (1&2) on one title anyway. Would've liked to build 2 separate houses but can't since we can't subdivide Our Owner-Build project... viewtopic.php?f=38&t=65301 Re: Perth Hills, Gidgegannup - Our Owner-build Journey 28Nov 23, 2013 5:42 pm If it's not too late and with owner building its much more flexible but I strongly agree with not having such a large patio on the northern end of house one. It will block quite a lot of the light and heat in winter. Re: Perth Hills, Gidgegannup - Our Owner-build Journey 29Jan 26, 2014 11:55 pm We got our building permit!!! Yay!! It really does pay to get the plans certified independently. So it's all systems go. Bringing in sand and doing the pad at the moment.
