Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Apr 28, 2013 11:42 pm Hi Everyone, I'm new to the forum and property industry. Intend to start building a new home (for investment). Before I do so I'll explain a bit of my self. I recently bought a house 800SQM (in Perth) and it has potential to to be sub divided (In which I intend to build another house at the back) By doing so, I intend to get a builder's license to save a bit of cost. Where do I start for this? With this license can I build houses for my dad? As he has quite a fair bit of property. Is it worth it do this or should I just pay someone else. Cheers for your time of reading this. Re: Builder's license? 2May 08, 2013 9:33 am You can get an owner builders licence to do one job every five years otherwise you have to get your full builders licence for which you need all the qualifications which I presume you don't have. Stewie Re: Builder's license? 3May 08, 2013 5:43 pm I would recommend you engage a project manager or builder for your first project. Stick close to them and learn. If you think building is for you then get your qualifications. Degree in construction management will allow you to get a builders licence. If you are smart then you will engage qualified tradesmen to do all your builds and you will manage the process under your license. Before you know it you will be just like the rest of us. Hi Mofflepop, I would recommend finding a building designer to prepare plans, they should design to your specified budget. The benefit is you can tender the project out… 9 20410 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9565 |
