Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Mar 15, 2013 2:31 pm Hi, As an OB, i need to construct an 80 metre drive on my 1 acre block. As it is in a BMO area, in VIC, this needs to be done to CFA requirements, All Weather Road for a 15 tonne GVM Fire Truck. This can be an unsealed road, and I wonder if others have engineered plans to share? Or would have pointers to published designs. Thanks, tezzab Re: CFA Spec Driveway 3Mar 15, 2013 6:07 pm Hi Greenify, Does look like a call is needed. Previously been on their website, and unlike more progressive councils, who have detailed drawings of crossovers, they only have a Policy, just for crossovers. Thanks T Re: CFA Spec Driveway 4Mar 20, 2013 9:16 pm Hi tezzab, Any decent earthworks contractor can do it. Will be more complicated if you are on a hill, but essentially a gravelled farm track that is 3.5 metres traffic able width and 0.5 metre clear each side (for truck mirrors and door opening) will be fine. Re: CFA Spec Driveway 5Mar 20, 2013 9:48 pm Thanks Smootdee, Definitely on a "hill", running down over 1.5metres for 60 metres, then I plan to drop down to finished floor level of house, so a 2 metre drop over 20 metres. I am the earthworks contractor in this case, having got my training and Cert IV last year. Skid Steer, 8 tonne Excavator and BackHoe. Only way I can manage the other extensive earthworks that are involved. I do have about 5 local earthmovers who are prepared to hire out their gear, so may get the driveway details from them as part of the package. thanks again. To my understanding early saw cuts are to control shrinkage cracks, so doing them now would be pointless. Control joints may reduce ugly cracking during periods of soil… 3 9858 Hi all I need a guidance on how far I need to space expansion joints in the concrete driveway and its type (keyway/foam.) Contraction joints are at 3m max for a 125 slab. Thanks 0 10939 |
