Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Feb 25, 2013 8:39 am Hi All, I felt oblidged to share my worst ever customer experiense at Champion Homes display homes at Oran Park thanks to Sales Consultant John Oly and his collegue, the old lady. I'm so disappointed and even disgusted at their behaviour that I will make an effort and write the whole story. We [a family with 2 kids] few weeks ago secured a block of land at Bunya estate and Champions are one of the 4 selected builders over there - they have one nice double-storey house on display. 6 months ago we thought we'd visit Oran Park and have a look at other Champion double-storey home on display over there. Arrived, looked at the house and we really, really liked it. We decided to talk to Sales Consultants. 1) When I asked about additional price that I'd have to pay for higher ceiling I was told to make a tender and get the price. 2) When I said I just needed rough figure - I was told that they couldn't possibly know. I thought it was weird... 3) When I was asked where our land is and told that we're considering buying at Bunya - they refused to speak to us about anything really - said that we should talk to Bunya sales. I regretted that I mentioned Bunya to them and since I didn't get answers to simple questions I felt a bit "down". Then we went on to see other builders houses. After two hours everything was mixed up in our heads and I suggested to my wife to go and have a look at that house again - we really liked that house. So we returned at 4.44pm. The doors were closed John Oly didn't even want to talk to me - just showed "closed" sign despite working hours ..till 5pm. I just wanted to refresh my feeling of that house, for which I needed 5 min at most. It took me 45 min to drive to Oran Park and it didn't feel right to be sent away like that. Anyway, 6 month later - yesterday - having secured a block of land we wanted to refresh our memory of that house and we drove to Oran Park again. What happened this time is much worse that any experience I had. Our 1 year old son needed a change, and we were in that double storey Champion house. As a parent, as dad, I don't like to change kids nappies, but sometimes you have to. There was no sign "don't use sink/toilet" So.. we used sink, my wife even wiped it with my son's t-shirt so there's not a single drop visible, and when I was putting a nappy on, the old lady from the office came and told us that we were not supposed to use sink to change babies. We said we are sorry and that we understood that but everything was already done.. we cleaned after ourselves.. what could we do? She said that there's a toilet somewhere else, and I responded that next time I will use it. Then she went away and John Oly came. Man.. he was charged, he literally attacked us asking us to leave immediately and screaming "how am I supposed to sell this house?". It felt really bad. How was that possible I thought? So disappointing.. Why not just offer a help to us instead of attacking us I thought? I don't know business model of Champion Homes but I think people like these two - John Oly and his collegue old lady - they don't deserve to serve customers. I wonder what happens to the people who built homes with them - what's your experience like? May be it was wrong time, wrong mood, wrong day? But since I've never been treated like that, I had to share that, so these guys may think about "customer feedback" more.. -- P.S. As an afterthought, I thought I'd share John Oly's business card details here: Telephone: 0246238700 Mobile: 0404885869 Re: Champion Homes at Oran Park - the worst customer exper. 2Feb 25, 2013 9:39 pm Hi Mrdreamer We have had a similar experience with the Oran park champion homes staff. They are either incompetent, lazy or disinterested ( or combo of all) To be honest, their horrible behaviour has saved you from making the worse decision if your life and building with them,so maybe a guardian angel is watching over you. I seriously don't understand how a company like Champion employ such incompetent people to be their face in the community. Who are you going to build with? Re: Champion Homes at Oran Park - the worst customer exper. 4Feb 26, 2013 2:32 am MrDreamer I think we are inclined to go with Eden Brae. Whatever happens, it will turn out for the best. You wont go wrong... I am building with eden brae.. I can highly recommend going through Glenn James at the display homes at waterford county, chisholm (near newcastle), if you dont mind a bit of a drive! Re: Champion Homes at Oran Park - the worst customer exper. 5Feb 26, 2013 7:03 am I have heard bad stories about Champion so you have dodged a bullet. The guys at Oran Park Eden Brae are really good and help us heaps and felt a little bad not building with them. 2 Re: Champion Homes at Oran Park - the worst customer exper. 6Jun 19, 2013 4:22 pm I mean absolutely no disrespect as I have a 9 month of daughter but you really should have changed your child's nappy somewhere else. A more appropriate place was your car or the public toilets. Having said that, this does not excuse anyone's bad attitude or rude service. Asking you to leave politely was a more appropriate response. Re: Champion Homes at Oran Park - the worst customer exper. 7Jun 19, 2013 4:54 pm Nice to see an old thread dragged up for a minor matter. In defence of the nappy change 9 out of 10 times the toilets at the Oran Park display village were locked. I remember changing our little guy in a display home but we asked if it was OK first 2 the conduit would need to be undamaged regardless of what network is in play. The conduit needs to be able to have fibre run through it. NBN and Opticomm are just… 4 2890 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 74715 |
