I'm considering using concrete panel design for my first OB project in Perth. Would be interested to hear of any success stories/difficulties encountered using this method. Would such a method limit future resale value?
I would like to build a 4 x 2 family home over 2 levels on a 500sqm plot, utilising passive design principles where possible. I have yet to compare costs between CPD and double brick but given we'll be in rented accommodation during the build, expect the cost can be offset in rent savings. Would like to have a design that doesn't look like a cube and so have concerns whether areas of the exterior can be clad or boxed out to soften the appearance and hide the expansion joints.
Pros - quick construction, offsite fabrication, thermal & acoustic mass, minimal waste, large internal spaces
Cons - few suppliers, higher cost (expected), limited design and architectural features,
