Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Feb 09, 2013 1:51 am Hi, I'm considering using concrete panel design for my first OB project in Perth. Would be interested to hear of any success stories/difficulties encountered using this method. Would such a method limit future resale value? I would like to build a 4 x 2 family home over 2 levels on a 500sqm plot, utilising passive design principles where possible. I have yet to compare costs between CPD and double brick but given we'll be in rented accommodation during the build, expect the cost can be offset in rent savings. Would like to have a design that doesn't look like a cube and so have concerns whether areas of the exterior can be clad or boxed out to soften the appearance and hide the expansion joints. Pros - quick construction, offsite fabrication, thermal & acoustic mass, minimal waste, large internal spaces Cons - few suppliers, higher cost (expected), limited design and architectural features, All for now cheers Re: Concrete Panel Design 2Feb 11, 2013 1:30 pm You should have a look at this related thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=45111 Lots of info Not exactly just concrete panels but in the same vein. Stewie Re: Concrete Panel Design 3Feb 14, 2013 6:34 pm Hi suemaruk, You should contract Richard from R&D Building. He specialises in concrete tilt panel homes and will be able to provide you all the details with an unbiased view (I know that sounds a bit crazy but he can tell you all the options you have). Depending on what R value you want to achieve you will have varying options for tilt panels i.e. sandwich panel with insulation, tilt with stud internal frame and so on. This will also vary the costing depending on the final finish. To keep costs down you might also want to look at a combination of tilt panel with stud frame and cladding. Richard has done it all and will be able to give you a wealth of information. From elsewhere on the Net, the Reckli Formliners have a wide range of patterns available. No connections, just happened upon sites while chasing SIPs info. Tezz Thank you so much for the effort. We will use it to talk with builder. We also had idea of building duplex instead and seeking suggest ions. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=106744 11 13843 Once you know the basics, the rest is easy.
