Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jan 23, 2013 10:42 am Hi guys, I'm starting this year to build as OB, and wanted to create a Project Plan (Microsoft Project) in advance. Has anyone got a template, or one that they used that I could get of you? Or at least a Step-by-Step guide that could help me identify all tasks in building a house. Many Thanks, Esco Re: Project Plan (Microsoft Project) or Step-by-Step guide? 2Jan 23, 2013 10:49 am Hi Esco, We did an owner builder course at Home Base Expo which supplied us with Four Lever Arch Files of the process (which to be honest I haven't really referred to since beginning the build) - inside was a Bunnings Planner which I no longer have - you may like to try your local bunnnings store and see if they have them. Regards AKB PS Good Luck with your build <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: Project Plan (Microsoft Project) or Step-by-Step guide? 3Jan 26, 2013 3:24 pm You need to look at this thread young man ( or lady ). viewtopic.php?f=1&t=58422 Then go to this thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=5823 and check all the things you want in the new house ( summary on page 27 of that excellent posting ). Most of the quantities you will be able to get from the floorplans and elevations but only you will know how many power points and lights in each room unless you do an electrical diagram , aircon drawing etc for tradies to quote on. Stewie Re: Project Plan (Microsoft Project) or Step-by-Step guide? 4Jan 29, 2013 2:09 am The gantt chart is something reguarly used in my profession. There are a multitude of ways to create and manage gantt chart however here are some tools I use. Related directly to Owner building. I firstly identify the statutory requirements of the job. In this case it these would surround the inspections/certification of the job. These may include for example; sewer rough in, slab pre pour, slab post pour and frame inspection. I would then create individual charts for each of these levels, for the frame this may include material order and lead time, construction of frame, installation of roof, and any other processes required to be completed in accordance with the requirements of the certifier. Once I have completed the requirements of all statutory requirements I put the pieces back together, ending up with a section for each major target along with another file with all the detail for that target. Hope this makes sense? Re: Project Plan (Microsoft Project) or Step-by-Step guide? 5Jan 29, 2013 3:07 pm Guys.... you are amazing, thank you very much. @Stewie.. I'm just looking at those excel sheets, they look exactly what I'm after. @Large, it makes perfect sense, I come from a Project Management background (unfortunately not building specialisation), So i need to get my head around all the tasks that involve building a house, then I'll start planning..planning...planning..!!! Is this crack showing some signs of bigger problems? Thanks for any suggestions! 1 1913 Take a pick with a level sittingo n the slab and a pick with a level sitting on the sill please. This will help us diagnose the issue and therefore a solution. RE,… 8 9384 |
