Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jan 17, 2013 7:58 pm Hi Forum, I am doing an OB and all has gone OK until today. The colourbond roof went on and the licenced installer's offsider has overtightened most of the screws - resulting in broken seals. The tradesmans fix is to return to the job and back off the screws that are too tight and remove and replace the seals of the broken ones..... There are a few hundred screws that need doing and he is talking just 2 hours to complete the repair. I suspect there is some issues with this proposed repair.....e.g. - how can the tension and weather seal be returned correctly if the roof screw is re-screwed into the same hole? Is this a recommended repair for overtightened fasteners? Any advice or guidance appreciated..... I can see what your saying....) Better to get the sheets screwed down with the seal in place and lose a minimal amount of extra hold-down power ( and you are probably talking a very small amount ) than not to have the screw seal in place or compromised.
