Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 23Jul 12, 2013 11:36 pm Hopefully! I love to cook and am slightly bucking the trend by not having a scullery or butlers pantry but still wanted to be able to shut the doors on some mess viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 24Jul 12, 2013 11:39 pm We have WIP and a separate scullery. But your idea is great being able close off mess. That's our main purpose for scullery. Keep all appliances and dirty dishes away from my clean kitchen haha. I love cooking too and cant wait to have lots prep area. My current house I have a rectangle patch next to stove or a patch next to sink. SUCKS!!! Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 25Jul 12, 2013 11:43 pm My current kitchen is old daggy and falling apart ....I've banned myself from buying any kitchen appliances until I have my new kitchen - as we are self funding the build it could be a while lol viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 26Jul 13, 2013 2:00 am What a beautiful spot to live. Must be lovely waking up to that everyday! Your extension is going to be amazing! What sort of look are you going for in the kitchen? My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 27Jul 13, 2013 11:12 am Hi Tracyw, Thanks we love it. My kitchen changes constantly (no thanks to show us your kitchen and everyone posting photos of their gorgeous kitchens). My plan at the moment (and it is a very loose plan) is to do the kitchen in the alfresco and then demolish the kitchen inside so probably wont be ready to do kitchen until summer so plenty of time At the moment I am thinking a fully integrated black kitchen - black stone tops with waterfall edges, integrated fridge and dishwasher behind black cupboard doors, black glass splashback in Scullery wall so it doesn't overly look like a kitchen but almost a room divider between the two living areas (that's the current thought anyway) I priced what I wanted at Masters (I will get a joinery/cabinet maker but thought I would get a comparison (58,000) (not with the appliances I wanted and not including plumbing and electrics) OUCH! .......and then I think about Shaker style kitchens lol viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 28Jul 13, 2013 12:10 pm Wow at that price this kitchen comes complete with full time chef haha. Sounds amazing. Great piece of earth you've got there. Jealous. Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 29Jul 13, 2013 12:13 pm AKB Hi Tracyw, Thanks we love it. I think the great thing about OB is you can do anything. We were limited to what our builder could offer which was a bit frustrating. Can't wait to see it come together! My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 30Jul 13, 2013 12:26 pm Thanks and yeah when OB you can do anything ....which creates problems in itself I always thought I was a pretty decisive person until there aren't any real limits and then making a decision becomes a problem - when we were bricking we would walk outside and make changes with the bricklayer just about every day lol viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 31Jul 17, 2013 3:34 pm Opps Serial Builder Sory I didn't see your post - A Thanks B Your not wrong re the price of that kitchen - something has to give Just got back from paying the Roofing Carpenters and dropping off their beer (Poor Guys worked all week including all day yesterday in the crazy weather viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 32Jul 17, 2013 11:02 pm AKB Thanks and yeah when OB you can do anything ....which creates problems in itself I always thought I was a pretty decisive person until there aren't any real limits and then making a decision becomes a problem - when we were bricking we would walk outside and make changes with the bricklayer just about every day lol Yes, I can imagine that would be very tempting. There are a few things we would have liked to change after construction started if we could have. I don't think it matters what your building or who you are building with I think you all go through the same thing viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Nearly Completed :-) 34Jul 18, 2013 12:04 pm Ok so our Roofing timbers are finished on to the Tin. Our plan is to finish the extension - effectively move into it and then renovate the original house (that's when I get my new kitchen) (I'm hoping to get to that during Autumn next year and just use the outdoor kitchen during that period. We decided not to borrow any money to fund the build but rely on savings instead - so the timetable all depends upon Cashflow as well. The Roof cost is approx. $45k which is why there was such a break between bricking and roof - however that's the largest at once chunk done - all the other bills should come in smaller (apart from the kitchen lol) and therefore quicker to save for Anyway Photo's Hubby's Garage Veranda outside Hallway And this is what the current Veranda outside our bedroom on the original side of house looks like for comparison - can't wait for this to be retro fitted Last one showing the bush poles etc in place viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Timbers Completed YAY! 35Jul 21, 2013 10:09 am That hallway is going to be lovely with all that glass along it! Wow i admire your good financial sense and patience to renovate as the funds come in. A slow process but would be a nice feeling knowing that the debt isnt climbing. My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Timbers Completed YAY! 36Jul 21, 2013 10:35 am Thanks Tracy I'm going to love the hallway as well I think......(going to fight with hubby re marking out electrical fittings today and the tin roof is booked for Friday) The only reason we can do it the way we are is that we are still living in our house and apart from sacrificing the games room nothing has changed for us - I don't think we would have been able to do it if we were renting as well,. Total cost of build to date is approx $130k and that is with some fairly substantial mates rates I must admit tho in the beginning I was thinking yeah it'll take a couple of years and that's. fine - now you have no idea how impatient I am getting and so jealous of everyone else's six month build times. Also makes you realise what the hell have I been doing with my money when I haven't been building! Lol! (Not paying off debt that's for sure!) viewtopic.php?t=62083 Re: Perth NOR OB - Roofing Timbers Completed YAY! 37Jul 24, 2013 1:58 am What a gorgeous location you have I'm very jealous of your bush poles!!
