Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jul 26, 2012 4:50 pm I have been prompted to start a new thread about our new project, which has recently commenced. This is the house we have been living in until recently: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It has taken over a year to get everything through our slow moving council, despite it being such an easy case that not even an advertising sign was required and there were no objections to our plans. Finally though, everything is through and we can get started! We moved out a couple of months ago and these are the proposed plans: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We started a couple of weeks ago and have had the back of the house demolished, internals have been removed, apart from the features we want to retain, and the site has been cleared and cut. The guy doing our foundations is just waiting on some machinery arriving to drill the holes for the stumps and then we will start going again. Has been a busy few weeks, ordering windows, trusses, ordered hydronic heating (very excited about that as we were intending to just get ducted gas), getting plumbing quotes and trying to find a good place to obtain a big skylight. The drafty has put in a massive 900 x 2400 skylight to the deck area, but it seems this is not a standard sized skylight. Am currently considering just putting in two velux ones side by side, as they seem to do flushing to suit them being installed side by side. Exciting but exhausting times ck xx Re: Owner Build Extension - suburban Melbourne 2Jul 26, 2012 5:33 pm Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: Owner Build Extension - suburban Melbourne 4Aug 02, 2012 5:28 pm Whoo whoo. There are people at the house doing things! Is very exciting when something is actually happening. They started digging the holes for the foundations yesterday and betya you can guess what happened... that is right, they hit rock and lots of it. Phone calls and a bit of waiting later, engineer and surveyor have agreed we don't have to dig as deep as original plans called for, just to the depth of the rock. One problem solved and eagerly awaiting the next Sorry but you have a crap builder. Probably too late now. For our last build I only spoke to builders who would allow me easy access (at no cost).
