Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Jun 24, 2012 12:25 pm Don't believe there is a right or wrong answer, though who would you ask to excavate the block and dig the footings? Our block is on an upward slope from the street. - Would you ask the demolition people to demolish, then excavate and dig the footings? or... - Would you ask the concrete slab people to excavate and dig the footings, then lay the slab? I'm sure there are advantages and disadvantages. Thanks. Re: Demolition > Excavation > Footings - Which Tradesmen? 2Jun 24, 2012 8:39 pm Where abouts are you? I'm in Perth so we may do things differently here. We used separate earthworks contractors to excavate and do the sand pad. After we'd got the compaction certificate we then used our grano guy to dig out the footings and lay the slab. We demolished our old place after we'd already built the new one, but even if we had needed to demolish prior to building, we wouldn't have used the demolition company to do the excavation and sand pad. If you're in Perth I can recommend a really good demolition/salvage company.
