Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 May 07, 2012 9:24 pm Hey, hoping someone can help me decide this one. I have 2 plasterers quoting on the job, plasterer no 1 is telling me that i should put villa board under the alfresco, says its much better than wr plaster, will look better when painted and generally will do a better job, also said that wr plaster can sometimes pull through the screws. Plasterer no.2 says wr plaster is much better. Its cheaper and villa board needs an expansion joint, which looks ugly and it can crack. I dont know which way to go so i hope someone out there can help me. Re: Villa Board vs WR Plaster 2May 08, 2012 9:15 am You will end up with a much better result with WR plaster. However villa board is much stronger and you are supposed to tile and not paint over. The reason why villa board needs an expansion strip is because it will crack when you stop it with plaster. Re: Villa Board vs WR Plaster 3May 08, 2012 9:07 pm Thanks B star. I have to admit i was leaning that way but its good to get another point of view.
