Browse Forums Owner Builder Forum 1 Apr 13, 2012 4:40 pm Hello, 1st post here. It may be a simple question, but has me stumped. I need to prepare my site for the slab..I have a slight slope. Do I cut the land before getting the surveyor to set out the pegs?? Not sure how the people would cut the land without knowing where to cut. Re: Order of site preparation 2Apr 13, 2012 5:27 pm I imagine you have the house sited on the plan, give this to operator and they will do there thing. you will just need to know how far you want to go with your cut, are you leveling the entire block and retaining around the boundary, or just going a metre or two outside the slab? Edit, once you have the block cut you then get the surveyor in. Re: Order of site preparation 3Apr 13, 2012 7:50 pm Ditto - that's how we did it. We got the excavator operator to batter off around the edges too while he was there - tidied up the site a lot and will make things easier for when we need to start the ladscaping. He used the extra soil that was dug out to fill in the lower part of the block. Floor levels usually should be on the approved plans. When they do your initial Site survey plan they would take a Datum point (usually from the roadway or some other fixed surveyors point) That would be deemed 10.0 and then on your Architects plans you might have an RL of say 9.6 for your internal floor which means that area should be 400mm below the Datum point. If it read 11.4 then it would be 1400 above the datum point. Either way your Earthworks guys should be able to sort it out https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=44762 My Owner builder journey extending a 1930's Bungalow I am new to this forum so please bear with me. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13106 |
