Question for any chippies or master gyprockers out there.
We have our garage that juts out from our main building "rectangle" shape. This causes the trusses to change direction.
I have recieved conflicting advice as to what to do re the plasterboard ceiling.
One piece of advice says that this is OK, and to use the trusses just as they are, all we need to do is to have an overlap of 600mm of the gyprock over the change of direction line, make sure we do not change the direction of the gyprock on an actual truss and to back brace the join. In effect this means that the gyprock will have two different sections and the sections will be 90 degrees against eachother.
The second piece of advice is to extend the truss lines by installing trimmers. This allows for all gyprock to be installed in same direction.
The latter would entail quite a bit of work and additional wood, not so worried about that per se, but am a bit worried about adding in extra weight and load into the ceiling.
I am also considering putting in metal battens as an alternative, but I have not budgeted for this and would again be a bit worried about extra loads in the ceiling as battens would also require trimmers to go in.
Would appreciate any advice from anyone out there...
