Tiler finished the floors downstairs and they have come up a treat. VERY happy with their progress. STAIRS ARE IN!! When I got the photos yesterday, I genuinely felt like some real progress had been made (psychological I know but still). The Fixer has done a lot in the 2 days they have been onsite. All doors are hung (none pre-hung) and wet area architraves are up so the tiler can keep going. Hopefully the boys can put in a big week and get us finished this week (wishful thinking but achievable) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: ...The drenched Owner Builder of Western Sydney... 62Sep 25, 2012 2:15 pm Nice to see so much progress .... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: ...The drenched Owner Builder of Western Sydney... 63Oct 16, 2012 9:48 am This is the bit I was regretting - the detail!! always happy to make a mess with the bricks, work in mud (and rain most of the time) but standing 4m in the air on so-so scaffolding is NOT my forte to say the least We opted to paint ourselves and I can now SORT of see why painters wanted about $15k to to this job. We are very happy with how we are progressing and the colour scheme, it is just now about finding time around work/kids/sickness/kids/unforeseen delays/kids/etc to get the painting done We are attempting to stay in front of whichever trade is up next (last weekend was all about getting the kitchen painting finished ready for the kitchen cupboards to get in - hopefully this week which is exciting) or getting a coat or 2 downstairs before the tiler got in. Very stressful as you don't want to be the one delaying these guys otherwise its weeks before you see them again Since the last update, the tiler has finished and I can't speak highly enough about the job they did. On top of that, they put more focus on getting the job done right rather than lining their own pockets busting mine for money every time they saw me. VERY highly recommended and happy to pass on his details to anyone in Western Sydney Fixer has been in the last 2 weeks and again, A+ job. doors & jambs I could not be happier with, threw up a stud wall for me in the stairwell and has done a great job the the sills. Again, happy to pass on his details to anyone in need of a quality fixer Other items completed include garage doors are installed (FINALLY!!), vanities and bathroom items delivered, shower screens ordered and paint, paint and more paint!! coming up in the next few weeks we have the gyprocker coming in to complete his work, kitchen cupboards installed and should be ready for the electrician and plumber to complete their works. Concreting quote should be here this week so we can get that kicked off in the coming weeks before they finish up for xmas FINAL RUN HOME - only thing starting to drop off is the drive - these things do start to wear on as they go. We are just SO keen to get this complete and that seems to be the only thing keeping us going! Just driveway /layback to go (hampered by rain for the last week and a half - to keep with the theme of the build!) * Kitchen INSTALLED - just need to install the appliances * Bifold doors are on (just waiting on glass) * Electrics and Plumbing complete * Bathrooms are fitout and operational * Upstairs flooring is about 60% complete Not long to go - getting a bit painful chasing others but all part of the 'game' we all play! Can I ask what type of bath tub that is in your bathroom? Re: ...The drenched Owner Builder of Western Sydney... 66Jan 09, 2013 12:44 pm Thanks candycandy Baths - I managed to get them from Masters there @ Gregory Hills, NSW The 1500 model is '1500 Blaque free standing bath' (as described by Masters) and the 1700 model is the '1780 Cove free standing bath' Keep in mind - both are fibreglass - not ceramic. I managed to pick both up for $1300 Re: ...The drenched Owner Builder of Western Sydney... 67Jan 10, 2013 7:18 am wow very nice looking forward to more pics Re: ...The drenched Owner Builder of Western Sydney... 69Jan 29, 2013 2:11 pm So......... With the singular shreds of sanity I have left, we are planning on moving in this coming weekend. It has been a path that has caused me countless sleepless months/years, having to beg/borrow/steal people's/companies's time/money/labour that I can gladly say is now paying off with the results shown below. It has been a life lesson which as members of my family have told me "everyone should build a house once" - very old Italian mentality! I am starting to realise WHY they say this. With us starting to move some of the smaller items in, it is finally feeling like we have accomplished what we set out 16 months ago to complete - the dream home that our family will be bought up in, allowing us to create memories that will stay with us for a lifetime Im not going to start on here by thanking every man and their dog because the people that have helped know how much I appreciate there assistance To everyone on H1 - I hope you have enjoyed my journey through pictures/rants/comments and am open to any questions you may have/assistance I can provide/recommendations of trades/etc. I will continue to stay on the forum as I find it an invaluable source of knowledge for the like-minded and an opportunity to share my strengths while discussing other's with them Enjoy the pics below - I wil try and get some more up post the move (which with this rain - theme alert! - may be an issue for this weekend) but none the less - we are finally HERE!!!; Front door; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dining/Outdoor area; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Kitchen (excuse the mess!); Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Theatre Room; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Comms Cabinet; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Stairs; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bed 1; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bed 2; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Bed 3; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Upstairs bathroom; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Upstairs Rumpas; Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Master Bed (& Ensuite) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: ...The drenched Owner Builder of Western Sydney... 70Jan 29, 2013 2:20 pm JMAP, Congratulations The house looks amazing! <!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href="https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=62083">viewtopic.php?t=62083</a><!-- l --> Re: ...The drenched Owner Builder of Western Sydney... 72Jan 30, 2013 11:23 am fantastic housey!!!!
