It's classically beautiful and gives the house real character. Do you mean your garage door will be cedar and you'll have to prep and oil that??? If it is I don't envy that job!!! Our owner-builder journey - viewtopic.php?f=38&t=45187 Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 43Mar 08, 2012 5:55 am Yep....it's going to be timber like the windows - it should be more straight going than the windows to oil, but it's a lot larger area to cover. It's booked in for Monday or Tuesday for installation. Here's hoping the rain eases off before then so they can get on site - it's a real bog at the moment. Right side (top picture) left side (bottom picture) We did get them both the same in the end (and hopefully we chose the correct one) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Owner Building on 1800sqm Sanity Intact so far Locked up March 2012 Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 51Mar 13, 2012 5:36 am Ah-ha !!!! We went with a timber one over an aluminium one so that it would compliment the windows (I know, I know....I'm going to be spending a lot of time maintaining them ) I've oiled about 3/4's of it with it's first coat and it's looking good. This is a picture of it raw. We chose raw instead of factory oiled so that we could get an exact match on the colour, plus we saved $1000 !! Cheers Heath Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 54Mar 25, 2012 1:37 pm I've applied the first coat of oil to the garage door. It's still a bit patchy but will start looking better after another 2 or 3 coats......(unashamed plug for my business in 2nd photo ) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Owner Building on 1800sqm Sanity Intact so far Locked up March 2012 Re: Owner Building a PAAL Camden in the Lower Hunter Valley 55Mar 25, 2012 4:40 pm That garage door looks fantastic !!!!
